Spring Homebound is Here!

Spring Homebound edition is here!  I once again have the great privilege of being a contributor.  Thank you again, Heather, for this wonderful opportunity!  I had a blast styling my home for my contribution!  Even though it doesn't look a bit like Spring outdoors in Michigan with the cold temperatures and lingering snow, indoors here it is a different story.  But don't let me give it away, go get your copy and see it all for yourself!

On another note,  Heather has been quite the busy bee!  Not only has she just released Spring Homebound, but she also put together a course revealing all her secrets in the how-to of the Mason jar soap dispenser.  Heather has shipped out thousands of these over the last couple years and knows all the ins and outs!  In this six week, self-paced e-course she will share different ways on how to create them as well as her business tips and supply sources for selling them!

A New Favorite Shop

I want to take a moment and thank you all for shopping my vintage wares and for all the encouraging comments you sent my way regarding my new shop!  In all honestly, I was actually quite nervous to step into this venture and wondering how well received it would be, but you have all blown me away with your kindness!  Most has already been sold and I am furiously photographing new treasures to restock the shelves very soon.  In case you missed it, please *Click Here* to check out what is still available for purchase.

 In the meantime, I would like to share with you one of my new favorite shops!  Jennifer from Chalk Farm Home has amazing taste and sells the most delightful flea market finds and vintage French wares.  In fact, her style so mirrors mine that I can never leave there empty-handed!  She found these vintage French bistro wine carafes in Paris and I just adore them!  See the enameled number tags wrapped around each one?  They are numbered for each particular table of the bistro.  Ooh-la-la!         

They fit perfectly in my vintage french water-glass carrier.  I added a few green mums to bring some color to my coffee table.  Nothing like fresh flowers to brighten any room and add a touch of Spring indoors (because it sure doesn't look like Spring outdoors here!) 

The good news is Jennifer still has a couple of these vintage french carafes left in her Etsy shop, but you better act quick!  Once these one-of-a-kind vintage carafes are gone, they're gone!

I can guarantee that this won't be the last time you see one of Jennifer's finds in my decor!  Thank you again, Jennifer!

Grand Opening!

Yay!  It's finally here!  I am so excited to present to you my very own online shop.  Here is where I will pass along my vintage treasures.  They are all near and dear, but because I am constantly redecorating and moving things around and don't have room for everything, it is time they find new homes!  You never know what you could find... vintage linens, quilts, French wares, ironstone, seasonal, collectibles and decorative pieces so please always keep one eye on the shop!  I think I finally figured through most of the details, but we will learn as we go.  All new shop items will be presented right here in updated blog posts at rusty hinge blog (a separate shop website is currently under construction!)  If you see something that you must have for your very own, inbox me with your shipping address to mgmarcusse@gmail.com.  I will then send you a Paypal invoice with an updated shipping cost.  First email takes it, so be quick!  Note:  All shipping prices are exact and will include delivery confirmation and shipping insurance.  I will combine shipping of multiple items for savings and will also ship internationally.  Now that we have finished with the boring details, I will now go ahead and cut the ribbon!  Happy shopping!  

   Vintage Victorian ironstone wash basin with Iowa stamped beneath.  Notice the delightful patina and aged appearance.  Perfect for corralling rolled towels in the bath.  It measures 15" wide and 4 1/2" tall.

Straight from France!  This adorable antique twisted wire basket is in wonderful vintage condition without any broken wires and with just a touch of rust.  It measures 8" wide and 2 1/2" tall.

This vintage breadboard is from England.  It shows some old knife markings and signs of use.  It measures 9 1/2" wide.

An adorable little confit pot with original lid straight from France.  I love, love and collect all French pottery!  This one has the number 4 stamped on the lid.  These pots were most likely used for food storage in the kitchen or pantry.  It measures 3 3/4" tall and 3" wide.

Yellow trug with bent wooden handle.  I am not sure of the age of this trug, but I used it in my bath to store wash clothes and soap bars.  It is the perfect size for a half bath.  It measures 16 1/2" long, 10 3/4" wide, and 4 1/4" tall (without handle.)

Highly collectible and authentic this vintage cardboard egg advertising sign was used in a general store to price the eggs. It is in excellent vintage condition with no tears.  You can see the rotating wheels in the back that spin for a price change on the eggs.  Imagine only paying 20 cents for a dozen!  It measures 12" wide and 18" tall.

This vintage wooden general store seed display is the perfect piece to add to your Spring decor.  I displayed this on my garden potting bench.  It will come along with ten vintage seed label packets.  It measures 24 1/2" wide and 18 1/2" tall.

A vintage-style metal gate that I used for a message and photo board.  I added miniature metal clips that are included.  Measures 20" wide and 31 1/2" tall.

A completely hand sewn feedsack quilt in the double-wedding-ring pattern.  These complimentary pastel pinks and blues are splendid for adding a touch of shabby chic to any decor.  It measures 79" by 79".

One of my favorite items for sale is this vintage European dough board.  I love decorating with these old boards as they make wonderful centerpieces and serving boards on the kitchen table.  This one is quite large measuring 23 3/4" wide.

See in these photos how I have previously used these dough boards?  They look great displayed everywhere...on the kitchen table, propped on the counter top,  and even hung upon the wall.  They are great for collecting as well!

A Little Sneak Peek...

Hello everyone!  How are you?  I am back home from Tennessee and I had a wonderful time!  I already miss my sister like crazy and sadly I won't be seeing her again until summer.  To keep busy, I have started focusing on some of my next big projects.  One of them being the opening of my online shop!  I hope to have a few things posted and available for purchase by as soon as next week!  I wanted to give you a little sneak peek at some of the vintage treasures that will be for sale. 

I have been racking my brain on how I would like to do this.  So far, I have come up with this... I will list photos of vintage treasures including the description and price within blog posts periodically as they enter the shop.  The first email to request it will get it.  In your email, please list your shipping address and I will get an exact shipping price to add to your Paypal invoice.  The shipping quote will include delivery confirmation and insurance for breakables.  My shop will be a potpourri of vintage country relics such as, but not limited to, old dishware, linens, collectibles and decor items.  You never know what will be available next, so please keep one eye on the shop!  I am also open to any suggestions or if there is something in particular you are searching for feel free to shoot me an email.

On another note, can I take a moment to brag up my hubby?  I arrived back home late Monday evening after being in a long 12-hour car ride from Tennessee and there on our kitchen island was a pot of pink tulips awaiting me!  Not only that, but the dishes were done and he even vacuumed the main floor!  Wow, what a wonderful and pleasant surprise!  Thank you very much, Karl!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope there are cards, chocolates, or roses sitting on all of your counter tops today!  If not, don't fret...  I haven't any either, at least not yet anyway.  I am on the way down to visit my sister in Tennessee for a couple days.  I won't be with the hubby on this Valentine weekend, but it will be good to see my sister again (and I think he is secretly relieved to get away with one or maybe there will be a special surprise waiting for me when I get back!  We shall see!)

I want to share a little Valentine decor that graces our home.  Valentine's is so much fun to decorate for with all the hearts and flowers on display.  I love tucking in splashes of pinks and reds ( my favorite color!) here and there.  For me, Valentine's Day is a big leap on the calendar in the countdown toward the arrival of spring.  I know it is only the middle of February but all the winter decor has been packed away for another year and our house feels so bright and airy.  Almost as if I could throw open a window and let the sun stream in (let's not get ahead of ourselves,  it is only 30 degrees outside!)  Ok, so we have a long way to go before spring, but today does mark it's imminent approach and at least we are heading in the right direction!

I know you have just seen my vintage wooden cubby decked out for Christmas in my Christmas home tour, but I couldn't bear not to show it to you again!  I have removed all the holiday baubles and ornaments and tucked vintage metal heart-shaped cookie cutters and red striped tea towels into each of the cubbies.

A vintage French sugar tin stands guard on top.  My favorite red crocheted hearts introduced last year hang from red branches stuffed inside.

Don't miss the red Anthropologie mug in the top row.  I have a couple of these brightly-colored monogrammed mugs.  I think they are so pretty and I love to decorate with them.

By gathering stacks of vintage bowls filled with heart-shaped cookie cutters and candy hearts, I created a Valentine inspired center-piece for my kitchen table.

The bowls rest upon a French round dough board placed upon a red-striped grainsack.
