I love linens, don't you? You can never have enough! There is something about a stack of old linens that gets my heart pumping. From old quilts to vintage french towels, I love them all! If you will let me, I would like to show you some ways I use vintage linens in our bedroom.
I love this huge grain sack bolster! I sewed on the wooden buttons last month.
I love switching out the linens on our bed to change things a bit. Now I cover it with an old linen French sheet with a red monogram.
A grain sack upholstered bench sits at the foot of our sleigh bed holding a stack of favorites.
This bench in the corner is made from an old wooden door.
I picked up this vintage vanity stool at a garage sale for fifty cents. I pulled off the torn cushion and folded a small grain sack on top.
I sewed a strip of lace to burlap to make a curtain, covering my under-the-stairway cubby. Old houses tend to have these, but it makes the perfect space for all our shoes and boots!
pleased as punch to have you as my blog of the month!
ReplyDeleteAND did I see you mentioned in romantic Homes?

Oh my goodness Maria I love your blog!! It is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Maria! I'm now following you; I laughed when I read your profile about your husband putting up with your obsessions with decorating; my fiancee is also very patient with the girly stuff and even puts up with everything being "white", lol.
ReplyDeleteI love your style; I wanted to ask you where you got the fabric for the white french chair in the post I'm replying to...is it a grain sack? It's amazing!
Have a great day,
Jenah xo
What a beautiful collection of linens, old grain sacks...I just picked up my first one at a flea market in Long beach a few weeks ago...I can't believe only bought one! I'm so inspired by reading your post today...we just bought an old home (1900) and I'm hoping it has one of those under the stair places so I can hang a curtain just like yours....I haven't actually seen the house and we are moving from CA, back to CT in June. I'm sure I'll have lots of house surprises.
ReplyDeletei'm so jealous of you right now. linens are one of my passions. You are a lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteOk....I had to come back here and drool all over your French linen bedsheet again, Maria.....not to mention all of your luscious grainsacks. I'm always wary of combining my red striped sacks with my blue striped ones, but you do it so well! I just may have to pull some out tomorrow and try it out. :) Ahhhh...what an inspiration you are to me, girlie!
