ReplyDeleteFall has always been my favorite season. Having lost both my mother and grandmother last September, it has become a bittersweet time. This year I used pieces belonging to each of them and incorporated into my fall decor. I've used my grandmother's ironstone pitcher collection, filled them with leaves, etc., as well as my great-grandmother's ironstone buttermilk pitcher by filling it with an assortment of fall flowers. In my kitchen, I used my mother's blue Bell canning jars in a vignette with pumpkins, yellow and blue flowers, displaying them on my grandmother's silver trays. I scattered tiny pumpkins and gourds onto the trays as well. I added white porcelain pumpkins to my sofa table vignette, as these blended well with some additional white ironstone pieces. The sofa table was handmade by my grandfather. On my fireplace, I used more of the white ironstone, filling it with various natural elements, and draping bittersweet around the mantle. Outside I've managed to use my mother's old decorations which give me reason to smile. I have her scarecrow and one of her wreaths. The remainder of the outside decor is what I've made: flower arrangements, bows, natural berry wreaths, etc. It gave me a sense of peace to be able to use family heirlooms in my decor this year.
ReplyDeleteI subscribe to the magazine on line but would love a hard copy! I decorate with fabric pumpkins I collect each year. I love displaying the pumpkins with my yellow ware and ironstone and creating fun areas with fabric ghosts and spider webs for my grandsons. Love eating outside on those cool nights. ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! For fall we make sure to bring nature's texture and smell into as many areas of the house as we can. I pulled out my fall things about a month ago. I guess I was wishing the 90 degree temperatures away. I love the smell of pumpkin and I use it all year. I decorate in a traditional way. I also love white pumpkins with simple branches.

I love fall! I have a big pitcher of silk sunflowers and I added some sticks to it to give it more height. I have some decorative pumpkins and a cool ceramic plate that looks like a colorful leaf. I put a burlap table runner on an entry table.

I would love to win the printed version of Homebound. I decorate with natural items: grasses, wheat, acorns, pumpkins, sunflowers (sometimes faux) and vintage items I have around the house: a wooden horse weathervane, a tarnished brass pitcher, candles, several paintings with autumn colors, and a family photo in a rust colored frame.

It looks absolutely beautiful and I would love a printed version! My favorite way to decorate for fall is use elements from nature... I find so much inspiration in the warm colors around us.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a copy of Homebound! Fall is one of my favorite times to decorate because I love the rich colors - browns and oranges. I use lots of pumpkins and leaves throughout my house. I have a collection of "fall color" old books that I also get out during this time of year!

Please add my name to the list for the Homebound giveaway! I'm doing things a little different this year--decorating in white and black, with touches of the fall color. White & black dressed scarecrows, white pumpkins--and maybe an orange one for color, white ironstone worked into the indoor arrangements--that kind of thing. We'll see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I have a hard time decorating for fall, especially when the weather is still in the 100's. However when the weather does cool, I put out my fluffy eiderdowns and dried hydrangeas. Great giveaway!

ReplyDeleteHi Maria,
ReplyDeleteWhat a most generous giveaway! Both you and Heather inspire me so much as well! :) As for decorating for fall - well, when the weather gets crisp, I love to decorate my home with a few touches of the season by bringing in pumpkins, some greenery, harvest wreaths, etc. I also like to bring out some brown transferware too for display! Thank you so much for the opportunity.
XO's,
Jessie
Hi Maria, I love decorating for fall with natural things like pinecones, real mini pumpkins and gourds. Thanks for the giveaway! Jean
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun giveaway! I love to decorate with texture for the fall- lots of flannel and cable knit added in.
ReplyDeletei have shared about this wonderful giveaway on my Fb page~Gina Fiorini Toothe
ReplyDeleteAs far as decorating goes, outdoors i place a wreath, garland, pumpkins, mums and pansies, scarecrow, spiders (eek), etc. Indoors i place ghourds, lots of Halloween and fall collectibles i have gotten over the years. I burn fall themed candles and place potpourri around to capture the scents of the season. I just love this season. It is my fave!!! thanks for a chance at this lovely magazine ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Maria, I love to decorate for fall; it's my favorite season. I usually hang a wreath with tiny pumpkins and bittersweet on my front door. I have a collection of vintage halloween noisemakers which I pile into a large bowl and place on a table by the back door. I get a (usually white) cinderella pumpkin and put it on a pedestal which becomes my centerpiece of course, surrounded by more bittersweet and small gourds. In addition I also pull out all my pumpkin and cinnamon smelling candles and spread them throughout. One other thing is to put halloween collars on both of my dogs-keeps us in the season. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of the bonus mag- I love reading all the ideas in it. Diana
ReplyDeleteThe newest issue looks delicious. I'd love a copy. Thanks.
